Established in 2019 by Artistic Director Joan Liu, Axons Dance Theatre is a contemporary ballet company based in New York that strives to encourage communication through the art of dance. The repertoire aims to be a bridge and blur the boundaries between disciplines, race, sex, dance genres, social economical standings...etc.

Since its launch, Axons Dance Theatre has been invited to perform at International Human Rights Festival, Dance Astoria, 7MPR Midnight Performances, CounterPointe by Norte Maar, Salon Performance Series by Mark DeGarmo Dance, NACHMO, Fertile Ground Series by Greenspace, Ballet Arts Showcases...etc. as well as self-produced two full shows at Manhattan Movement and Arts Center in June 2022 and May 2023.
